Volunteers

This page is dedicated to our fantastic volunteers – Thank you.

Hi guys my name is Levi, I am a volunteer for Mind Over Matter, reasons I wanted to be involved with the group are that they have such quality and understanding people to work with and that massively helps with other people that are suffering too. That is why I like to help others that are feeling the same or even worse to be here for a chat, quick phone call, or even a shoulder to cry on.

The reason why I am here with Mind Over Matter is to help put a smile on people’s faces, to get events together and watch the Mind Over Matter family grow.

So if you ever need to chat – do not hesitate to get in touch! Anytime of the day or night, my phone will always be on.

When the opportunity arose to get involved in this brilliant charity I knew I couldn’t ignore it. I, like many others, hold matters of mental health very close to my heart and it’s one of the main reasons I chose to study for a Psychology degree. Therefore, I couldn’t help but jump at the chance to help others in the real world rather than learn about it through a textbook. As for my goals for MOM, I want to work towards breaking down as many barriers in mental health stigma as possible and help to build a community of people. Whether the stigma is in relation to gender, profession, personal background, culture etc., you name it, I want to help change it. No one should ever feel like they have no one and that they are completely alone, this charity is all about preventing that from happening. There is no limit to how much I want to do to help this charity and as many people as possible. Bringing people back together in an age where we all have our faces glued to screens is never going to be easy, but I’m ready for the challenge.

With being diagnosed with Dyspraxia from birth, the challenges I have faced mentally and physically have been a real test.

I have been to the very lowest which there was no way out. My aim now in life is to coach and guide people not only through sport but through general daily lifestyles and mental health awareness.

This comes in to play with my football coaching career which has taken me all over the globe from working on a patch of grass within a council estate to living in the US, Mexico and working in professional club academies.

Not only coaching young males and females, ages from 4 to adults but also having an amazing experience with special needs participants.

I am currently studying a Bachelor’s PE and Sports Coaching to continue with my coaching career with my already qualifications of FA level 1 and 2 with Level 3 in Emergency first aid at work.

I personally want more and more people to realise that there is a light at the tunnel and that it is OK not to be OK. Getting out of bed is the first major step forward as you’re already becoming more positive mentally and physically. You are here for a reason.

Hiya all, my name’s Laura. I am a volunteer for Mind Over Matter, I myself have battled with Mental health and also have an 11year old who’s diagnosed ASD, Anxiety & depression. I wanted to get involved with this group to help children, young people and parents the same way as I did my son (Tyler) I was able to work with Tyler and teach him different ways to manage anxiety with different strategies, whilst helping Tyler I was determined to help as many other children, young people and parents, so I went ahead and gained my Level 2 qualification in understanding children and young people’s mental health and I am currently looking to start Level 3.

I felt extremely lonely through my battle with mental health there is not enough support for both Adults, children or young people. Getting involved with Mind over Matter does make a difference, not only are we able to support and help each other we can help you and break the stigma.

Please if you need anyone to chat to, have a child who is struggling don’t hesitate to contact me, I’m happy to listen, help and give advice, let’s give our children the tools they need to a life of happiness.
